Marchuk Family Market is a fictional grocer created for this example. The Marchuk family opened their first store in North Kildonan decades ago, selling fresh produce, a full-service deli and homemade perogies and cabbage rolls. The second generation has since grown the business to four stores in North Kildonan, St. Boniface, Wolseley and St. Vital.
Today Taras Marchuk runs the stores with his sister and a long-serving team who still know many shoppers by name.
Taras wants one loyalty program that works the same way at all four stores and rewards shoppers for what they spend, not just how often they visit. With large national chains a short drive away, he wants to give families a reason to keep doing their weekly shop with a local, family-owned grocer.
He also wants clear numbers: which stores have the most repeat shoppers and which campaigns bring lapsed customers back.

In this scenario, each store runs its own paper punch card for the deli and bakery counters, stamped by hand at the till. Cards are easy to lose, mean nothing at the other stores and tell the family nothing about who their regulars are.
One point card, four stores, one scan at the till
Marchuk Family Market sets up a StampEzee point card where shoppers earn 1 point for every dollar spent and can redeem 500 points for $5 off a future shop. In this example, the stores' point-of-sale system (for instance Lightspeed) is connected through StampEzee's POS integration, so points are added automatically at checkout. At tills without the integration, cashiers set up as Loyalty Executives scan the customer's QR code instead.
Shoppers join by scanning a QR code at the till or on a shelf sign and add their card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The balance updates after every shop, so customers can see how close they are to their next reward whether they shop in Wolseley on a weekday or in St. Vital on a Saturday.
A lapsed-customer campaign reaches shoppers who haven't visited in a few weeks with a bonus-points offer, and a birthday campaign sends a small treat from the bakery. Messages go out by push notification, email, SMS or WhatsApp to customers who have agreed to receive them. Before long weekends like Labour Day, the family sends a push notification about barbecue specials, and a Scratch & Win campaign during the holiday baking season gives shoppers a chance at bonus points.
Alongside the point card, the deli counter runs a simple stamp card: buy nine hot lunches and the tenth is free. Taras uses the analytics dashboard to compare members, visits, redemptions and repeat-visit rate store by store. In this example, he could see a repeat-visit rate of around 41% across the four stores and spot which campaigns are worth repeating.
